Grier Village sits on the edge of Pisgah National Forest, where G5 Trail Collective has built more than 20 miles of purpose-built trail, with more on the way toward a planned 42. Wander mellow loops, climb to Point Lookout for views of the Royal Gorge and old railroad tunnels, or follow the river up to Catawba Falls. When you want something wilder, Linville Gorge, the “Grand Canyon of the East,” is within day-trip reach.

Old Fort is quickly becoming one of the Southeast’s favorite mountain biking destinations, and Grier Village puts you in the heart of it. Thanks to the work of G5 Trail Collective, riders can explore a growing network of purpose-built singletrack, from the flowing, beginner-friendly Gateway Trails to the rocky descents of Kitsuma and Heartbreak Ridge. Whether you're finding your footing on two wheels or chasing your next big descent, there's a trail here with your name on it.

The mountain streams surrounding Grier Village offer some of Western North Carolina’s most inviting trout waters. Cast a line in nearby Curtis Creek, explore the stocked waters of Mill Creek in downtown Old Fort, or spend an afternoon along the Catawba River. From quiet pools tucked into Pisgah National Forest to more accessible stretches perfect for beginners, there’s plenty of room to find your rhythm, catch a trout, and lose track of time.
